My favorite yoga spot

The word yoga means "to join" or unify. The practice of yoga allows unification of body, mind & spirit which creates physical health and feelings of happiness, peace and bliss. Many people think yoga involves holding difficult postures. Yoga is actually the resting period in-between any activity. It is in the resting that the body, mind & spirit can integrate the experience of the activity. Any moment you allow yourself to close your eyes and consciously relax you are practicing yoga. During these moments the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PSNS), the part of the nervous system connected with rest & digestion, is activated. According to the Law of Polarity, All is Love. The opposite would be the absence of Love which is fear. When our PSNS is activated, we are in the state of Love. When the opposite expression of the PSNS is activated, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), we are in a state of fear. The majority of people live in a state of Sympathetic Overdrive. Their SNS, the "fight or flight" mechanism, is constantly on. Over exposure to stress from internal & external pressures keeps the SNS turned on & the PSNS off. Tension becomes the normal state of existence. Digestion shuts down, nutrient carrying blood can not flow into the tissues and the body can not eliminate waste correctly. Anytime we practice conscious relation, or yoga, we activate the PSNS & give the body a chance to switch out of Sympathetic Overdrive. Do not mistake pleasure seeking as relaxation. Violent programming, overeating comfort food, using drugs or alcohol is not relaxing to the nervous system. It is further activating to the SNS. In these situations the body must fight against the poison or trauma it is being exposed to. In order to improve your health and live your bliss, you must learn how to practice yoga. Weather it is for an hour at a studio you love or 3 minutes at your desk at work, take time to harmonize the polarities of tension and relaxation in your life. Give Love an opportunity to increase it's flow and fill the spaces where fear is being experienced.
